So, I have a few minutes to kill while the hubby is finishing mowing the yard and I decided to share some of the baby drama we experienced back at the end of August. It was quite terrifying, however, know that everything worked out and all is good.
I found out for sure that we were expecting August 18th. We had been suspecting for about a month, but I couldn't get a positive on a home test. So I had one of my girlfriends bring me home a dr grade prego test and it was finally positive. Hubby and I were both super excited cause we've only been trying for 3 1/2 years.
I called and made an appointment the following day at the Ob/gyn and got in the upcoming Wednesday. I met with the nurse who declared me to be 10 weeks, gave me a due date (March 19th), and set up a sonogram to look for the heartbeat for the following week.
Day of the sono arrives, I took off work and hubby took off work and we met with the dr and talked to him for a while. Then he did the sono looking for the baby. Only one problem.
There was no baby.
For being 10 weeks along there should have been a baby! He told us it could be 1 of 2 things ... 1) I wasn't as far along as they originally thought or 2) this was a classic miscarriage.
I was pretty much devastated. I didn't hear a whole lot past miscarriage and didn't hear much past that. The dr did run some blood work and scheduled me to come back the following Tuesday for some more blood work. He wanted to make sure my Hcg levels doubled and checked my progesterone levels.
It was a long 3 day weekend. I tried to stay busy. I ended up leaving work early and spent the rest of the day with hubby. He did his best to remain the positive and up beat one.
We made it through the weekend, I went back for more blood work and got the results from the previous Friday. Progesterone was in the good range. And Hcg was up. I would have the results of today's blood work in the morning.
Wednesday morning I got to work and the first thing I did was call the nurse. Good news, Hcg doubled like it was supposed to! So another sonogram was scheduled for Friday.
The Friday was a little nerve wracking. Even though everything was good, I was still afraid I was going to miscarry. But the technician who did the sono looked around and said "yup, there's a baby in there."
And then we saw the heart beat.
I measured at 6 weeks and 2 days, About 6 weeks off from what they originally thought cause my body has issues. But everything is going great now and I'm officially 13 weeks in a few days.
We find out the gender two weeks before Christmas ... So excited!!!
